Commercial Pilot License (Helicopter)
Objective and Concept
The Helicopter Commercial Pilot License Course provides the candidate that has no flight experience with the necessary knowledge and proficiency to work as an Helicopter Pilot.
The course complies with the European regulations defined by Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA).
The course has an approximate duration of 18 months with theoretical classes in an after-labor regime and flights at any day of the week, including weekends.
After obtaining his license, the candidate will be able to apply to a job in any national or international helicopter operating company.
Course Plan
Theoretical Component: The classes are usually ministered in our facilities at the Vilar de Luz Airfield, with 3 classrooms with capacity for 20 students each, equipped with air-conditioning, integrated communications training system, didactic and informatics material with video-projector.
The 600 hours of theory classes last around 10 months, from Monday to Friday between 17:20 and 24:00 and include the following subjects:

Principles of Flight
VFR Communications
To each subject corresponds an exam at the National Institute of Civil Aviation (INAC) in Lisbon.
Practical Component: The classes are composed of a minimum of 135 flight hours in a Robinson R22 helicopter. They take place at any day of the week in accordance with the student´s availability and in coordination with the school´s flight schedule.
Our facilities provide the necessary equipment to make the flight planning, to access the relevant aeronautical information required, to consult real-time meteorology, and the space for individual briefings with total privacy.
At the end of the course it is done a flight check to obtain the desired license.
Entry Requirements
The minimum age is 18 years old at the date of the flight exam, thus the candidate may start the course with 17 years old.
The candidates need to have finished the minimum schoolarity.
The candidates without any previous knowledge of Math and Physics (12th grade level) need to take a supplementary exam on these subjects. The candidates that completed the 12th grade on these areas are exempt from taking these exams.
Demonstrated written and spoken knowledge of the English Language.
The candidates need to be the holder of a valid Class I Medical Certificate. The medical exams may be done at any of the approved facilities. For the commodity of our candidates we recommend the following:
